Established in 1995 by Michael Kitmiridis, MKa is a thriving and busy boutique architectural studio located in the central hub and inner Sydney precinct of Alexandria. MKa is committed to utilising sustainable design principles while maintaining a commercial and practical focus on its projects.
With over thirty years of experience in the industry, MKa’s architectural services offering is broad, ranging from designing bespoke luxury homes through to multi-storey residential and commercial buildings. MKa’s work includes contemporary architecture, conservation, adaptive re-use of existing buildings as well as heritage architecture. Offering the full range of architectural services, MKa are able to assist clients by managing the entirety of their project from conception to construction. Depending on your preference, MKa is also able to assist in respect of any specific stage of the project. We are flexible and are able to tailor our services to meet our clients’ needs.
Michael remains Principal and owner of the practice. When you retain MKa, you are assured of Michael’s personal involvement in your project. As a former Mayor who served in Local Government for close to a decade, Michael has an intimate understanding of the internal workings, requirements and motivations of Council. He is able to utilise his practical experience to assist clients with timely approvals in respect of well-designed applications. Michael is supported by a carefully selected team of professionals who pride themselves on design excellence and exceeding client expectations.
Michael’s clients also benefit from his practical building experience, which inform all of MKa’s design solutions and translate to real value for clients. It assists with the seamless progression through the construction certificate phase of the project, and is also useful in the context of the actual construction of the project.
Over the three decades he has been in the industry, Michael has built up solid experience working across a variety of projects for a variety of clients. He has consulted to Commonwealth and State Governments, to large private building companies on airports, hospitals, correctional facilities, TAFE colleges and major housing estates.
One of his most memorable projects was being part of the Mirvac Lend Lease Village Consortium Team, a team of professionals specially selected for their expertise and skill to assist the Commonwealth Government to design and construct the Olympic Games Athlete’s Village supporting its pledge to hold the most environmentally friendly Olympic Games. As part of this Village Consortium Team; Michael was one of a small number of Site Managers overseeing the construction of the Athlete’s Village.
Michael also consulted to NSW Public Works in connection with the construction of the maximum security gaol at Silverwater, Westmead Children’s Hospital, the Granville and Nirimba Campuses of the University of Western Sydney and the Ourimbah Campus of Newcastle University.
Registered with the NSW Architects Registration Board, Michael is a member of the Australian Institute of Architects and is also a Board Member, by invitation, of the Association of Consulting Architects Australia. Michael is also a Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects.
MKa is an A+ member of the Australian Institute of Architects, as well as a member of the Association of Consulting Architects Australia.
